You post 'LF2M Diamond+ Apex NAE' in #lfg. Three minutes later it's buried under 40 messages. Nobody saw it. You solo queue anyway.
Discord is where gamers live. 200 million monthly active users. Every game has a server. Every server has an #lfg channel. It's the default answer to "how do I find people to play with?"
And it doesn't work. Here's why.
In any active gaming Discord, the LFG channel gets dozens of messages per hour. Your carefully crafted "LF2M Apex Ranked, Diamond+, NAE, 21+, mic required" post? It was visible for about 90 seconds before it got pushed off-screen by 15 other posts.
The people who needed exactly what you were offering? They weren't looking at that exact moment. They checked 3 minutes later and saw different posts. Timing mismatch kills Discord LFG.
A Discord message is just text. There's no filtering, no categories, no way to say "show me only Valorant posts from Platinum+ players in my region." You scroll. You read. You hope. It's Craigslist for gaming.
Some servers try to solve this with bots that create structured posts or reaction-based systems. They help a little. But they're still messages in a channel, and they still get buried.
You see a post from 12 minutes ago: "LFG Valorant comp, Gold 3." Are they still looking? Did they find a group? Are they in-game already? Did they go to bed? You won't know until you DM them and wait. By the time they respond (if they respond), you've already solo queued.

Discord is incredible for community, voice chat, and hanging out. It's just not built for real-time matchmaking. Different tools for different jobs.
